Antique JAPANESE PAPER MACHE GOLD EMBOSSED LEAF Storage BARREL, Black Lacquer<br>Antique JAPANESE PAPER MACHE GOLD EMBOSSED LEAF Storage BARREL, Black Lacquer<br>Click images to enlarge<br>Description<br>This is an old Oriental black lacquer paper mache and compostion decorated storage barrel that has a black lacquer interior and bottom.Thought maybe it was a storage container for tea or tobacco.<br>The exterior of this unique piece is done in an all over design of embossed gold leaves and a scattering of birds and small seeds or berries with red dots.<br>This has a notched lid and fits fairly flush to the base.<br>This barrel is about 6 3/8" tall with the top diameter of about 4" but wider in the center area like a barrel would be.<br>There is a small area of damage to the lid where it has a scrtch or cut mark down to the base material that looks like a plaster but the  lid is too light for plaster.
